Stuart Philip Ross is the senior partner of Ross, Dixon & Bell, LLP and founded Ross, Dixon & Masback in 1983 with Gary V. Dixon and Harold E. Masback, III. Mr. Ross has 40 years of litigation experience.
Upon graduation from George Washington University School of Law, Mr. Ross served as a law clerk for Justice Tom C. Clark on the Supreme Court of the United States. In 1967, he joined Hogan & Hartson, becoming a partner in 1973. He was a member of that firm’s Executive Committee when he resigned to form Ross, Dixon & Masback.
Mr. Ross’s litigation practice has been exceptionally diverse and ranges from the landmark decision in the Passamaquoddy & Penobscot Indian rights case to representation of major American and foreign corporations in courts throughout the United States. The National Law Journal selected Mr. Ross as one of America’s top 10 insurance lawyers. He has been asked on numerous occasions to conduct special investigations for clients and was appointed by a member of the United States Senate to conduct a highly visible staff investigation. Mr. Ross is frequently asked for counsel by corporate executives and is general counsel to numerous national trade associations.
Mr. Ross has been active in the Greater Washington community, serving as President of the District of Columbia United Way, founding day care centers and representing numerous community organizations on a pro bono basis.
