Roy Morrow Bell is a partner resident in the San Diego, California office of Ross, Dixon & Bell, LLP.
Mr. Bell served two tours in the Western Pacific during the Vietnam Conflict where he earned two Navy Commendations (with combat “V”), the Navy Achievement Medal (with combat “V”), the Vietnam Unit Medal of Gallantry, and six Vietnam Campaign Medals. He attended the California Western School of Law, where he graduated with honors in 1974 and was valedictorian. Mr. Bell served as lead articles editor for the California Western International Law Review and later served as an Associate Professor of Law at California Western. He has served for 20 years as a trustee and then as Chairman of the Board, and currently holds the honorary title of Emeritus Chairman.
Mr. Bell is a member of the State Bars of California and New York, the New York Bar Association, the California Bar Association, the San Diego Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. He is the recipient of the March 1977 Trial Lawyer of the Month Award, and the San Diego NAACP Lawyer of the Year Award in 1978. The National Law Journal named Mr. Bell its Litigator of the Month in February 2000 for his work in the Koch Industries trial. Most recently, he was named a Transcript 10 Top Attorney in the San Diego Daily Transcript’s Top Attorneys 2007. Mr. Bell also has served as a founding trustee of a scholastic trust for children of deceased Naval Academy graduates, is a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors and past President and Chairman of The Century Club of San Diego (Buick Invitational 2003), is a member of the Board of Directors of the San Diego International Sports Council, and is a past Chairman and President of the La Jolla Country Club. He currently serves as a committee member for the 2007 Pacific Life Holiday Bowl and San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl Committee and was named a Paul Harris Fellow by the San Diego Rotary Club.
The focus of Mr. Bell’s practice is complex business civil litigation and trial work.
