“Summary of Intellectual Property Law Basics,” Motorcycle Industry Council’s Communications Symposium

Paul Gale presented “Summary of Intellectual Property Law Basics” at the Motorcycle Industry Council’s Communications Symposium, entitled Inroads to the Future 9. This presentation outlined the types of intellectual property, explained the differences between utility and design patents, and reviewed the steps involved in obtaining a patent. Those in attendance also learned how to obtain a trademark or service mark and the distinctions of trade dress, trade secrets, and copyrights. Finally, Mr. Gale discussed what steps a company can take to protect intellectual property in court, including injunctions and damages.
