Christopher L. Walters is a partner in Ross, Dixon & Bell, LLP’s San Diego, California office. He joined the firm in 2000.

Mr. Walters is experienced in all phases of state and federal court litigation from pretrial issues through and including appellate court matters, and rendering advice to clients to settle disputes without the need for litigation. Mr. Walters’ practice areas include complex civil litigation, commercial litigation involving contract, lease, and other business disputes, employment and labor, unfair competition, and defense of federal civil rights actions. Mr. Walters also has experience in bankruptcy court.

In 2004, Mr. Walters was involved with the successful representation of a local business in a jury trial involving claims for breach of fiduciary duty, unfair competition, and trade secret misappropriation concerning the company’s information related to its employees. The jury awarded the business a verdict of over $3 million including punitive damages.

Mr. Walters is active in the firm’s pro bono program. Through the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program, Mr. Walters has represented clients including the successful resolution of an elder abuse case on behalf of a disabled plaintiff. As a member of San Diego Lawyers for the Arts, Mr. Walters represented a local theater group, successfully drafting royalty agreements with an author; he assisted another non-profit organization with its state and federal filings requesting recognition of tax-exempt status.

Mr. Walters graduated from the University of Southern California Law School, where he served on the Southern California Law Review and graduated in the top 15% of his class. As an undergraduate, he attended the University of California Berkeley where in 1996 he graduated with a double major in Integrative Biology and Religious Studies.

Mr. Walters is a member of the San Diego County, California, and American Bar Associations, and is admitted to practice in California state court and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Central, and Northern Districts of California.
