Partnership

At RDB, we don’t hire associates with the expectation that they’re going to run for the exits in a few years. Once you’re here, we want you to thrive. We’re looking for highly motivated people with talent, character, and promise -- in short, people who will develop into partners. And we enjoy a solid retention rate among our lawyers. In fact, very few attorneys leave us to go to another private firm.

Associates ordinarily are considered for advancement to partnership after they have been practicing law for seven years. Of course, there are times when, for one reason or another, the partnership feels that an associate is not ready to become a partner at the end of his or her seventh year. At RDB, we do not have an “up or out” system. Rather, the firm works with those individuals to develop a plan that hopefully will allow them to receive favorable consideration at a later time.
