Though we work towards making your summer here at RDB an educational one, we also know that summer is the perfect time for a little fun. From Cubs games, to wine tasting, to sailing, each year our offices organize a number of activities for our summer associates and we look forward to offering them to you.
RDB also offers a generous and competitive benefits package for those of you who receive and accept positions with RDB after law school. Associates are entitled to the benefits package that is summarized below. Full details are provided during orientation, or questions can be directed at any time to one of our firm office managers or the Director of Human Resources.
Bar Exam and Related Expenses
The firm will cover the cost of Bar registration and a Bar review course for those individuals who accept its offer before taking the Bar examination.
Moving Expenses
RDB provides reasonable moving and travel expenses for incoming associates in accordance with the terms of the firm’s moving expense policy.
401(k) Savings Plan
Attorneys are eligible to enroll in the Associate’s 401(k) plan at the beginning of each quarter. Associates may contribute up to 100% of their salary to a maximum of $14,000 per calendar year (2005) or $18,000 if over age 50. The plan can accommodate rollovers from a qualified plan.
Vacation Benefits
Associates are allowed to take up to four weeks of vacation per calendar year.
Maternity Leave
The firm provides up to 6 weeks of paid maternity leave in association with the birth of a child.
Parental Leave
The firm provides up to 2 weeks of paid leave to both men and women immediately following the birth or adoption of a child.
Primary Caregiver Leave
The firm also provides up to 4 weeks of paid leave to the primary caregiver of the child.
Dependent Care Reimbursement Account
Employees may elect to pay for dependent care expenses on a pre-tax basis. Under the plan, eligible employees may set aside pre-tax dollars to be used to reimburse the employee for certain costs associated with dependent day care expenses.
Medical Reimbursement Account
Employees may elect to pay for certain health care expenses on a pre-tax basis. Under the plan, eligible employees may set aside pre-tax dollars to be used to reimburse the employee for certain non-reimbursed health care expenses.
Dress Policy
Each of the firm’s four offices determine their own dress code; however, the offices generally enjoy a business casual style.
Professional Association Memberships
The firm will pay for mandatory lawyer registration fees in conjunction with the state bar for the state in which the attorney resides. For those attorneys in the Washington office, the firm will pay for DC bar membership and either Virginia or Maryland bar membership, if the attorney resides in either of those two states. RDB also pays the annual dues of one professional association membership for each attorney and two section memberships.
