A Week in the Life of Erik Ideta

Thursday

Morning
9:00 a.m.
This morning is our last workshop, so I want to make it a good one. I practice my examination a couple of times before heading to the office.

9:30 a.m. We have a quick breakfast before we begin our examinations.

10:00 a.m. The examination workshop begins, and Partner Karen Ventrell serves as judge. Each member of our group is given the opportunity to conduct a portion of our client’s examination, as well as cross-examine the plaintiff’s wife. We also each practice making the relevant objections. This workshop proves to be a good learning experience.

Afternoon
12:30 p.m.
We enjoy a nice lunch in the conference room while Managing Partner Stu Ross tells us the history of RDB. It’s awesome to hear about the firm’s beginnings and how it came to be what it is today.

1:30 p.m. Partner Jack Gerstein presents on opening statements and closing arguments.

2:30 p.m. Ahhh. The afternoon is ours. This week has been non-stop, and all of the fun and excitement is starting to catch up with me. I opt for the TV and remote control in my hotel room.

6:00 p.m. I arise from the couch to get ready for dinner. The summer and junior associates, along with associates and partners from the DC office, head over to DC’s most popular Mexican restaurant. After enjoying some good food and margaritas, we decide to keep the night going a little longer…
