A Week in the Life of Nina Santiago

Tuesday

Morning
8:35 a.m. I arrive at my desk, make a couple of phone calls, and send an e-mail.
9:15 a.m. I continue to review the FOIA guidebook and research Westlaw for my research assignment.

11:15 a.m. Unfortunately I have not found anything on point after consulting the FOIA guidebook, the articles and cases sent to me by our Westlaw representatives, and after researching the issue on my own on Westlaw. I go to see Jennifer Eckel, our librarian, for any additional tips regarding helpful resources I might be missing.

11:25 a.m. Jennifer recommends additional resources, such as HeinOnline. I decide to conduct further research on the recommended sites before meeting with our LexisNexis representative this afternoon.

Noon. Keeping in mind that there will be plenty of good food at today’s afternoon event, I eat a light lunch at my desk and continue researching.

Afternoon
2:15 p.m. Due to the upcoming event, I won’t be able to meet the Lexis representative in person, so I e-mail Jennifer with my questions for him.

2:40 p.m. Several of us, including Terri, several associates, and partners head to the Henley Park Hotel for High Tea. I have never been to this hotel before, and have been looking forward to this event for a while.

3:00 p.m. We arrive at the Henley Park Hotel. Two other summers (Mike Grogan and Omar Ayad) and I are seated with Kelly Overman, an associate, and Stacey McGraw, a partner. For the next couple of hours we enjoy good conversation, our tea, and a variety of sandwiches, scones, and sweets. I’m from DC, so I plan to recommend the tea to my family and friends in the area.

5:00 p.m. We leave the hotel. I catch the metro back home so that I can change in time to attend a concert with my boyfriend at the 9:30 Club, one of our favorite venues.

6:30 p.m. We leave for the concert. Starting at 7:30, three bands play, including the main act, and the show ends close to midnight. I don’t look forward to waking up early the next day, but the headliner was so good that it justified staying out a little late on a weeknight!
