We believe that mentoring is an important factor in shaping not only the attorney’s experience, but also the attorney. As firm matters are typically staffed by two to three attorneys, lateral hires can expect significant and meaningful contact with partners. The smaller size of our firm and the collegial atmosphere that RDB fosters promotes access to all partners, not just those with whom you might share a case.
RDB recognizes the significant contributions that experienced attorneys bring to the firm and we are dedicated to assisting lateral hires in their integration and business development activities. Lateral attorneys are encouraged to build upon their preexisting practices if desired, but are assigned to matters outside of such areas as needed. Additionally, a full-time paralegal staff, full-time librarian and librarian’s assistant (in DC), full-time marketing department, and a significant budget are all available to assist laterals in their business development goals.
With the assistance of the firm, newly hired lateral attorneys are encouraged to take on as much responsibility as desired and is consistent with their experience. Two of our attorneys who joined the firm as lateral associates (Gaby Richeimer and Marc Rinder, now partners) share their experiences.
