I’m Tony Jones. As the hiring partner in the DC office, I have heard many stories about why experienced attorneys are interested in joining RDB from other firms. As a lateral hire myself, I can appreciate their reasons.
When I left my prior law firm, I was looking for an active litigation practice, a firm where I could assume a leadership role early on in my cases, and a firm where I would be able to maintain a reasonable work schedule, allowing time for family and outside activities. It was these qualities that drew me to RDB as a relatively junior lateral in 1997. It is these same qualities that have kept me here. RDB is a firm where I can and do say that I genuinely enjoy the people I work with. Laterals are welcomed into the firm and treated as though they have been members of the team for years. Rather than competition among associates for a partner’s graces, there is support and assistance; asking for another associate’s advice about a partner’s style is accepted and encouraged. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, I enjoy what I do.
